Not every filler journey goes to plan  and sometimes the right step is to remove or correct existing filler rather than add more. Filler dissolving uses an enzyme called hyaluronidase to break down hyaluronic acid filler, whether it was placed elsewhere or is simply no longer wanted. It's an important safety tool and a reassuring option for anyone unhappy with previous treatment.

People seek dissolving for filler that looks overdone, product that has migrated (a common concern with tear troughs and lips), lumps, unevenness or asymmetry,or as a corrective step before re-treating an area. Hyaluronidase only affects HA filler, which is one reason Dr Arti only ever uses reversible HA fillers in her own work.

A patch test may be required beforehand. Results often appear within a day or two, though a second session is sometimes needed. If re-treating, Dr Arti usually recommends waiting a couple of weeks before placing new filler.
